London Fashion Week SS11 Day 2: Bernard Chandran, Spijkers en Spijkers & Bryce Aime

Bernard Chandran

Chandran's Malaysian inspired collection was gorgeously structured and embellished. Use of metallic fabrics, silks and lurex added femininity to sharp pieces. This was one of my favourite collections; because of it's 'robot-esque' feel! The original collection showed that Chandran truly is an innovator of SS11's Asian trend.

I was blown away by Spijkers, as I had never heard of them before. The collection was playful and girly and very reminiscent of Miu Miu SS10. Models descended the runway with mermaid hair, looking like beautiful ethereal creatures. The collection was ultra feminine, with pleating and lace and floral being key features.

Bryce Aime

Aime's collection of lycra leggings and origami t-shirts left a lot to be desired. Asian inspired pieces, such as geisha platform shoes and mini box hats were present. But with designers such as Isham's more creative offerings also embracing the oriental trend, the collection ended up more comical than couture.

London Fashion Week SS11 Day 1: Paul Costello & Ashley Isham

Paul Costelloe's day-break show was the perfect way to kick off London Fashion Week. Models descended the runway wearing Stepford wives-esque peplum dresses, complimented by wispy hair. Denim and metallic biker jackets injected a rock'n'roll touch into girly maxi dress ensembles. Costelloe's 'English' trademark was ever present in an array of sharp suits, trenches, school-boy blazers and pop socks.

The stand out pieces from a collection which drew inspiration from Asia, were dresses with cascading tails and geisha inspired headdresses. The construction of Isham's pieces were impeccable; adornment, embellishment, meticulously planned and executed fine details, which included full crystal encrusted bodices.

London Fashion Week SS11 Outfits: Day 1 & 2

(Jacket: D&G, Jumper: Topshop, Skirt: Zara, Shoes: Mulberry)

Day 2

(Jumper: Cos, Pants: H&M, Shoes: YSL)

Queuing for shows, going to shows, seeing, shows, queuing for more shows.... seems to take it out of you. I'll be narrowing down my pictures later on this week (and after I had some well deserved post LFW craziness sleep). In the interim, this is  what I wore on the first two days.

The lovely girls at My-Wardrobe were kind enough to lend me some amazing AW10 pieces. The jacket in the first shot is D&G and has the most gorgeous silk and bead trim embellishment *drools*.

Jen got her hair cut and styled at Tony and Guy, whilst I got my make up done at Mac.

I was shot for Next's 'Style Secrets'. Check out her and Shini's coverage of LFW on their blog.

Last but not least my YSL arty ring was stolen, which is pretty sad as it was a birthday present.

Must dash now as I need to get ready for the Kinder Aggugini show tonight.

Thank you to Kit (3&4), Jen (6&7) and Jill (1&2) for taking my outfit shots ;-)

xx
